My lovely wife Nissa posing with the deer and I after we tracked it down. The sneaky bugger got up after he went down and ran another 30 yards before going down for good. We had to search for him for about 20 minutes before we found him. He was about 50 yards away when I shot him. I was using my 7mm Rem. Mag. with 150g. Swift Scirocco handloads. The shot took out both lungs but he barely flinched at the shot. I thought I'd missed so I shot (and missed) 3 more times before he went down. Thankfully we were able to go back to the spot where he'd been hit and track him to where he lay. It took both of us to locate him whereas I breathed a huge sigh of relief. This is the 3rd buck we've taken from this same clearing in the last 4 seasons. Hopefully we'll be able to keep our luck and continue to hunt there for years to come.
